They have a lot of programs and activities for the residents, so they are not just sitting around staring at the walls. They also involve the residents in daily activities when possible. The house is spotless, well maintained inside and out. The garden and walking path are enjoyable year round. The residents are well cared for. Mom’s clothes, hair, nails always look great. They know her many stories and how to respond specifically to her when she is upset. They work with the family to keep her medications to a minimum. “My dad lived at SeniorCare Homes’ Waveny Park House for more than two years. It was a great experience for him and our family. When you walk into a SeniorCare house, you feel a wonderful positive energy and a sense of family. It’s not institutional. It doesn’t have that funky nursing home smell. It is a regular home. Think about it…in a typical Alzheimer’s care facility, there is one staff person for every 25 or 30 people. That is a nearly impossible job. At SeniorCare, there is one staff person assisting five residents. As a result, the staff truly get to know every resident and their families. My dad loved to sing, so they sang along with him.
