AlZHEIMER'S ASSOCIATION MEMORIES IN THE MAKING...A HUGE HIT

separator

This year, I attended the Alzheimer’s Association’s Memories in the Making Art auction with my mother. She stood in for my wife who had just given birth to our son, Levi James, just days earlier. It was a great evening and really allowed the spotlight to shine on the truly wonderful pieces of artwork which the program participants create throughout the year. At SeniorCare Homes we bring residents to paint every other Thursday at the Alzheimer’s Association and have begun framing and posting artwork in our home. SeniorCare residents are able to paint and then enjoy a TCBY down in Prairie Village. We are looking forward to having resident artwork considered for next years auction.Memories in the Making is a weekly art program sponsored by the Alzheimer’s Association and hosted in assisted living communities, nursing facilities and adult day programs around the Chapter’s bi-state service area.Groups of 5 to 10 individuals are led by a trained, experienced volunteer artist and a facility staff person for a one-hour weekly art session. For more information about the Memories in the Making© program, or to volunteer as a group facilitator, please contact Karen Clond at 913-831-3888 or karen.clond@alz.org.
