SeniorCare Homes Walkers for Alzheimer's 2014

SeniorCare Homes would like to thank our families and care specialists that participated in the Kansas City 2014 Alzheimer’s Association Walk to End Alzheimer’s. It was perfect fall morning at Corporate Woods for the Alzheimer’s Association’s signature walk. More than 3,500 families, loved ones and friends took part in walking and raising awareness and money for the fight against Alzheimer’s. We had several families join Team SeniorCare in our signature bright orange and walk for a great cause and show support.

“My dad has been with SeniorCare homes about 9 months now. They take great care of him and are very communicative when it comes to any issues that may arise. They have a lot of programs and activities for the residents, so they are not just sitting around staring at the walls. They also involve the residents in daily activities when possible. “My mother has been a resident here for a year. We looked at several facilities in the area and found none that come close to creating such a safe and comfortable home environment. The house is spotless, well maintained inside and out. The garden and walking path are enjoyable year round. The residents are well cared for. Mom’s clothes, hair, nails always look great. They know her many stories and how to respond specifically to her when she is upset. They work with the family to keep her medications to a minimum. They sit with her, hold her hand and talk with her when she is confused or needing a little extra TLC. They are very welcoming to the family when we visit. “My dad lived at SeniorCare Homes’ Waveny Park House for more than two years. It was a great experience for him and our family. When you walk into a SeniorCare house, you feel a wonderful positive energy and a sense of family. It’s not institutional. It doesn’t have that funky nursing home smell. It is a regular home. Think about it…in a typical Alzheimer’s care facility, there is one staff person for every 25 or 30 people. That is a nearly impossible job.
