SeniorCare COVID-19 Updates & Planning
May 22, 2020
Dear SCH Families, Visitors and Care Team,
We would like to report that our homes continue to remain free from COVID-19 infection. Your incredible support, trust, generosity and patience as we navigate “safest practices” has meant the world and reinforced our safety-first philosophy. With regard to the reopening of businesses and services around Kansas City, guidelines suggest a 3 and 4 phase reopening for us, and I wanted to update you on what this looks like for residents, staff and visitors.
Jerry and I continue attending weekly briefings with the Johnson County Health Department, Med-Act and Emergency Management teams specifically addressing needs and concerns in senior living. We are included in a group of service providers – such as nursing homes, assisted living communities and other home plus providers like SCH – for consideration as part of Phases 3 and 4. Johnson County moved into Phase 2 beginning today – May 22.
We anticipate Phase 3 beginning sometime mid-June. Phase 3 has been the benchmark by our governing bodies as to when it is safe to ease restrictions on some essential services and visitors, but with safety controls still in place. Our plan is to provide pre-scheduled exterior house visits on our decks during Phase 3. These visits will involve the safest and best practices recommended by both sound judgement and our governing bodies. Families will sign up for time slots and receive visiting guidelines over the next few weeks. As we then approach Phase 4, our visiting practices will move inside the house to a “safe zone” as soon as can be safely accomplished.
We look forward to seeing all of you again soon! Please don’t hesitate to call, text or email in the meantime – we truly love hearing from you!
Warmly,
Matthew White
